What you get

What the installation covers

Safe connection

The appliance is connected to the gas supply with the correct fittings, then tightness tested at the meter to confirm there are no leaks anywhere on the installation.

Flue and ventilation check

We verify the flue is correctly routed and terminating safely, and that the room has the ventilation the manufacturer requires for that appliance.

Combustion testing

A flue gas analyser confirms the appliance is burning cleanly and within manufacturer tolerances before we sign it off.

Old appliance removal

We can disconnect, cap off and take away the appliance being replaced, so you are not left with it in the kitchen.

Certification

You receive documentation confirming the appliance was installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer, plus a Building Regulations notification where one is required.

The regulations

Why it has to be a Gas Safe engineer

It is a criminal offence for anyone who is not on the Gas Safe Register to carry out work on a gas appliance, fitting or flue. That applies to a plumber, a kitchen fitter, a handyman and to you — there is no DIY exemption for gas work in a property you own.

Badly installed gas appliances are the single biggest cause of carbon monoxide poisoning in UK homes. A connection that looks finished can still leak, spill combustion products into the room, or run rich because the ventilation is inadequate. None of that is visible without the right instruments.

If you are a landlord, an appliance installed by an unregistered fitter can invalidate your insurance and will not satisfy your annual gas safety obligations. Getting it done properly the first time is considerably cheaper than putting it right afterwards.

Questions

Gas Appliance Installation FAQs

From 120 pounds where there is an existing gas point close by and the appliance simply needs connecting and testing. If new pipework, a bayonet fitting or a longer run is required we price that separately and tell you before booking.

No. Work on gas appliances, fittings and flues must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. It is a criminal offence otherwise, and it applies even in a property you own and live in.

Yes. We can disconnect it, cap the supply safely and remove it for you, usually from 45 pounds. Tell us when you book so we allow time for it.

You receive documentation confirming a Gas Safe registered engineer carried out the installation, and a Building Regulations notification where the work requires one. Landlords should keep this with their gas safety records.

A straightforward cooker or hob connection usually takes an hour to ninety minutes including testing. Gas fires and water heaters take longer, particularly where the flue needs attention.

Called at eight in the evening expecting an answerphone and got a real person. Emergency call-out arrived within the hour and the fuse board was replaced the same night. Hard to fault.
